With car hire depots available in many locations such as city centres, train stations and airports, collecting your rental car these days can be easier and more convenient than ever before.

Car hire suppliers are found at most major airports around the world, making driving holidays a simple a quick and easy way to travel. Depending on the size of the airport into which you are arriving, rental cars will either be parked a short distance away from the terminals, to where you can often walk, or in the case of larger airports there is a parking area for rentals to which you catch a shuttle bus which is usually free.

In both cases, suppliers usually have a counter in the arrivals area of the airport, where staff will assist you with your booking and organise your paperwork. Once the rental agreement has been signed and your driver’s license checked etc, you’ll be guided to where the cars are located.

An important thing to keep in mind when collecting a rental car from the airport is the opening times of the depot. If you are arriving quite early in the morning or late at night, there is a chance depots may not be open. For this reason it is important to include your correct flight details when booking your hire car. Flight details can also be used by staff at the depot to monitor the arrival times and ensure they are ready for you. For returning a rental car when the depot is closed, many suppliers have a parking area and key drop box, set up precisely for this purpose.
