Holiday in Amman

Amman is a charming city layered with squared, white stone houses and flat roofs to create a characteristic desert city. At sunset you will be blessed with a romantic view of the sandstone houses glowing magically against the suns touch. Amman is one of the oldest cities in the world and has been recreated with modern elements still capturing its ancient history and culture which is still very prominent. The contrasts of old and new with the desert plains against the lush Jordan Valley are truly a beautiful exotic place to explore.

The seven hills of Amman is an enchanting city with so much to offer its visitors. Soak up all the great cultural experiences this city has to offer with its echo calls for prayer, the local restaurants and kebab stores, bustling markets with the shouts of bargaining prices and of course the ancient ruin which takes us on a journey back to the past. The Petra known as the Rose city of the desert is one of the best attractions in the world. It may be hard to visualize a city completely carved into the rock face, but think “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” which was filmed at the Petra. The Petra is mystified amongst its history and is now the seventh wonder of the ancient world. It is a dream like experience and with every step along the stoned stairs and a stroll through the underground hidden trails you will be rewarded with a stunning natural beauty behind every corner.

The Citadel Hill offers a panoramic view stretching over Amman city. This site houses the impressive ancient structures of the Temple of Hercules, the Great Temple of Amman, the charming Byzantine Church dating back to the sixth century and the Jordan Archaeological Museum which is the best in the country. The Museums has thrilling exhibitions displaying artifacts and scrolls from over 700,000 years ago. As you pass through these structures you will reach the majestic Umayyad Palace. This Palace dates back to the Islamic Umayyad period and displays a masterpiece of architecture.

The biblical town of Madaba is located just 30 kilometres from Amman. It is famous for its stunning sixth century mosaics and the history of this town which goes over 3500 years. The most famous Mosaic is the Orthodox Church of St George which houses a map of all major biblical sites. A visit to Jordan without seeing the Dead Sea would be heartbreaking. The Dead Sea is positioned at the lowest point of earth and has been enriched with a huge supply of natural salts and minerals. The Rocks have been covered with salt crystals displaying a scene of beautiful white rocks against the lapping blue waters.

Fun Fact: Because the Dead Sea has four times more salt than most oceans, you can float on the Dead Sea without any effort. It is thought that this is the only Sea where you can lie down on the water to read a book.
