Drive a Hire Car in Basingstoke

Although not as popular with travellers as other parts of the UK, Basingstoke is still a great place to visit, particularly for those who would prefer a laid back holiday at a pace slower than that of nearby chaotic London. If you are arriving into Basingstoke, you can collect your hire car at one of the downtown depots, or alternatively if you are flying into London, you can collect your hire at the airport and drive across to Basingstoke.

While in Basingstoke, there are a number of great attractions for you to visit, particularly historical ones. Near the town centre is the Willis Museum which is a great place to learn about the history of the area. The museum contains loads of artefacts, displays on important events, and a great art collection. Not far from here you can also visit the Milestones Museum, which features recreated scenes of life during the 19th and early 20th centuries. To the east of the city centre you can also check out the ruins of Basing House, once the largest private house in England.

To delve even further into the area’s past, jump in your hire car and drive a short distance north of the city to Silchester, which is the remains of an ancient Roman town which once existed here.
