An excellent outing to begin your visit to El Paso with is driving your car hire along Trans Mountain Road, which you will find to the north of the city centre. The road passes through the famous Franklin Mountains, which tower thousands of feet above the desert below. For those travelling with children, there is one place definitely worth a visit, and that is El Paso Zoo. Located on the edge of the city centre, just a few streets from the border, the zoo is home to many rare species of animals, and has sections dedicated to the Americas, Asia and Africa.
