Of course when you’re in Pisa the best place to start your sightseeing is at the controversial Leaning Tower of Pisa. It doesn’t matter how many pictures you’ve seen of this attraction you will still be overwhelmed when you see the real deal. The Leaning Tower stands proudly at 60 metres tall and started leaning more than 800 years ago due to unsteady ground. At first you may judge the quirky poses from visitors, but it won’t be long until you’re found posing the same way for the camera. The Leaning Tower is one of four buildings that make up the Cathedral complex known as the Field of Miracles. The other buildings are the cathedral Santa Maria Assunta, the Baptistery and the Camposanto cemetery.

Located just a couple minutes from the Leaning tower you will come across the beautiful botanic garden which is the oldest botanic garden in Europe. Check out the two main museums in Pisa which are the Museo dell’Opera and the Museo delle Sinopie. These museums display an amazing collection of paintings, sculptures and sketches. Another great museum is the San Matteo which displays paintings and sculptures from the 12th to the 18th century.

Take a drive in your hire car to the Lucca a nearby town in Tuscany. This is a rare city which has its original medieval city walls which has been well preserved and stands strong today. The walls date back to the 16th century and hold together a colourful and unique town. A drive through the romantic Tuscan scenes is a must. A relaxing drive in your hire car is the best way to take in the beautiful landscapes and a chance to stop at the local stores and indulge in the traditional food.

On the 16th of June the lights are dimmed at sunset and over 10000 candles are lit in celebration of the Patron Saint Day. This breathtaking sight is amazing, there are many other activities around the streets and the night ends with big fireworks.
