Drive a Car Hire in Santa Fe

Santa Fe is located at the base of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, a stunning backdrop for an equally impressive city. For outdoor enthusiasts the list of places to visit is a long and exciting one, with many superb areas ready to be explored. Simply jump in your car hire and head off into the mountains to soak up the nature and enjoy the view. Just north of the city is the Santa Fe National Forest, a protected area of wilderness featuring walking trails and picnic areas. If you keep an eye out, you may even spot some deer, bears, or rare bird species.

Art has played an important role in the shaping of Santa Fe and the culture of its people since early days, something which can still be seen today. Great places to visit where you can view some great artwork include the New Mexico Museum of Art, the Georgia O’keefe Museum, and the Museum of Spanish Colonial Art. Another attraction which is highly recommended is the Museum of International Folk Art, which is just a short drive south east from the city centre in your car hire. The museum contains great exhibitions on art, decorations, clothing and toys unique to cultures from around the world.

For a bit of history, jump in your car hire and head a short distance north of the city centre to the Palace of the Governors, the oldest public building in the US. Built in the 17th century, this was the official headquarters for the Spanish government that controlled the area at the time. Inside the building you can also visit a great museum, which contains displays on the history of New Mexico. Another great building worth a visit is the Basilica of St Francis, which is also north of the city centre. Dating back to the 1700s, this place of worship was originally a cathedral, until elevated to the status of basilica in 2005, a special site to locals.
