Drive a Hire Car in St Tropez

When arriving in St Tropez, there is one decision that faces visitors, which is to head off and see the sights, or do what everyone else seems to be doing, i.e. relax, get pampered, or perhaps just sit back and enjoy some people watching. The town has long been known as a popular destination for the rich and famous, with stars from around the world choosing to spend their holidays here. Whether on their luxury yachts moored in the harbour, or on the famous Pampelonne Beach, celebrities here are often barely noticed.

Pampelonne Beach is in fact the best known beach in the area, which particularly during summer, is filled with bodies soaking up the sun. To reach the beach drive south in your hire car, to the other side of the headland, or for the adventurous, there is a 12km coastal walk that can be taken also, and runs from the beach to Portalet Tower, one of several defensive towers from the 15th century that once guarded the town.

For an excellent view of the city, head to any of the three towers, Portalet, Guillauma, and Jarlier, or perhaps drive up to the 15th century Citadel, which stands high above the city. From the Citadel in particular, you will get to see an amazing panoramic look at the area, a great way to see just how beautiful it is.
