This same population however left in even less time, when silver levels ran low and more was discovered in nearby Aspen, leaving behind an eerie deserted area.

Southwest of Aspen, lies one of the most photographed areas in the Rockies, the Maroon Bells. A massive mountain standing over 14,000 feet tall, the Maroon Bells is made up of two great peaks composed of mudstone which has formed rock. A rich earthy colour gives the mountain its name, and a pristine lake at the foot of the mountains adds to the spectacular scenery, definitely a highly recommended outing for anyone visiting the area.
