Personal Kit (summary of): Linen, Sleeping bags or doonas, bath and tea towels, pillows, pillow cases.

Kitchen Kit (summary of): Cooking equipment, Crockery and cutlery.

Living Equipment: General equipment such as pegs, clothes line, dustpan/brush, fire extinguisher, bucket/hose and broom.

Apollo Welcome Pack: Each vehicle is supplied with a complimentary Apollo Pack for the first night. The pack contains matches, mini shampoo and conditioner, dishwashing liquid, sponge, soap, salt and pepper, coffee, tea and sugar satchels.

Maps & Campground Guides: Each vehicle is supplied with a complimentary Road Atlas as well as campground guides.

Vehicle Consultation: At time of collection, Apollo with provide a complimentary vehicle consultation. This includes an explanation of all the interior and exterior features of the vehicle as well as driving tips.


Exclusions:

Administration Fees/Taxes: Standard rates - Mandatory charge, paid at time of collection. 3% of the total cost. This amount is levied to cover state government taxes, duties and associated costs, vehicle registration recovery and administration costs. Included in Inclusive rates.

L.P Gas Refill Service Fee: Standard rates - Mandatory charge, paid at time of collection. Hitop, Euro Tourer, Adventure Camper, Outback Camper: AUD25 + Tax /rental. Euro Camper, Euro Star, Euro Deluxe: AUD35 + Tax /rental. Included in Inclusive rates. The gas bottle is supplied full and can be returned empty once the hire is complete.

Broome Fee: An additional charge of AUD750 + Tax applies to all rentals picking up or dropping off in Broome. This is in addition to the one way fee if applicable. Only the Hitop, 4wd Adventure Camper and Outback Camper are available to be rented to/from the Broome branch.

One Way Fees: Standard rates - 7-20 days: AUD250 + Tax per one way segment /rental. 21+ days: no charge. One way rentals are subject to a minimum rental period, depending on the pick up & drop off locations. Included in Inclusive rates.


Conditions:

Calculation of Rates: Rates are based on seasonal calendar days.

Minimum Age: 21 years. No Young Drivers Surcharge is payable.

Maximum Age: 75 years.

Licence Requirement: All drivers must have held a current & full, valid licence for a minimum of 2 years. The drivers licence must be current and be valid for the whole duration of the rental. If the driver’s licence is not in the English language then an international driver’s licence is also recommended. An accredited English translation will be accepted in lieu of an international driving permit.

Minimum Rental: 7 days. Subject to change in peak periods i.e. Christmas. A 10 day minimum rental period applies between 15 December 2012 to 5 January 2013. During the Bathurst and Phillip Island Races a 10 day minimum rental period applies when vehicles are collected from Cairns, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne or Adelaide.

Collection Time: Pick up time is anytime during office hours.

Return Time: Return time is anytime during office hours.

Branch Hours: Open 7 days a week 8am-4.30pm (exceptions apply). All branches will be closed Christmas Day, New Years Day and Good Friday. 01 December 2011 to 31 March 2012: the Alice Springs branch is closed on Sundays and the Broome and Darwin branches are closed on Saturdays and Sundays. 01 May 2011 to 31 August 2012: the Hobart branch is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

After Hours: Available on request for an additional charge.


Optional Extras:

Camp Chairs: Standard rates - AUD15 + Tax per chair /rental. Included in Inclusive rates if required & prebooked.

Camp Table: Standard rates - AUD20 + Tax /rental. Included in Inclusive rates if required & prebooked.

GPS: AUD10 + Tax /day, max AUD100 + Tax /rental.

Heater/Fan: AUD15 + Tax /rental.

Baby Seats (6 months-3 years): Must be prebooked. Standard rates - AUD20 + Tax /rental. Included in Inclusive rates if required & prebooked. Baby seats cannot be fitted in the following vehicles: Hitop, Euro Tourer and Adventure Camper. Only 1 child is allowed to travel in the Hitop at one time. Note: A child travelling in the Hitop must be a minimum of 8 years old and must use the 3 point seatbelt when travelling.

Booster Seats (3-8 years): Must be prebooked. Standard rates - AUD20 + Tax /rental. Included in Inclusive rates if required & prebooked. Booster seats cannot be fitted in the following vehicles: Hitop, Euro Tourer and Adventure Camper.

Satellite Phone: AUD20 + Tax /day + call charges.

First Aid Kits: A First Aid kit is supplied in every vehicle. If the seal is broken or the kit is not returned the kit becomes the property of the renter and an AUD50 + Tax fee is charged when the vehicle is returned.


Insurance/Excess Reduction:

Insurance Excess (Standard Liability): Standard rates - AUD7,500 + Tax. Inclusive rates - Standard Liability is Nil.

Excess/Liability Reduction Option 1: Standard rates - AUD27 + Tax /day, max AUD1,350 + Tax /rental, reduces the the Insurance Excess/Liability to AUD2,500 + Tax. Inclusive rates - N/A.

Excess/Liability Reduction Option 2 (VIP Cover): Standard rates - AUD44 + Tax /day, max AUD2,200 + Tax /rental, reduces the the Insurance Excess/Liability to Nil. Included in Inclusive rates.

Additional Information:

HiTop Note: The upper bed of the Hitop has maximum weight occupancy of 50kgs and it is not recommended that any person above this weight use this bed.

Hobart Note: The 4wd Adventure Camper and Outback Camper cannot be rented to or from the Hobart branch.

Transfers: Vehicles must be collected and returned to Apollo branches (not airports). Transfers to and from the Apollo depot are not included in the rental price. It is the renter’s responsibility to get to and from the branch.

Vehicle Age: Approx. 0-3 years. Vehicles cannot be requested by model, mileage or age, only by vehicle category.

Security Deposit: Cash - Not available. Credit Card, Debit Card or EFTPOS - Required. Standard rates - deposit debited AUD7,500, AUD2,500 or AUD250, depending on the insurance cover the client has. Inclusive rates - deposit debited AUD250. Apollo accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Diners Club. Visa and MasterCard will incur an additional 2% surcharge on any transaction. American Express and Diners Club will incur an additional 4.5% surcharge on any transaction.

Animals in Vehicle: No animals are permitted inside the motorhomes, except guide dogs.

Smoking in Vehicles: Smoking is not permitted in any of the vehicles.

Fuel: Client is advised to return the vehicle with a full tank of fuel, the same as collection.

Storage: Not available at the Apollo depots.

Cleaning Fee: Indoor cleaning charges will apply if the vehicle is not returned clean.

GST: GST is applied to those items paid at time of collection.

Travel Restrictions:

  • 2WD vehicles: Can only be driven on sealed/bitumen roads or well-maintained access roads less than 12 kilometres long to recognised campgrounds.
  • 4WD vehicles: Can also be driven on recognized unsealed tracks but may only travel to the following remote areas with the express written permission of Apollo: Any Islands, Tasmania, Simpson Desert, Cape York (North of Daintree River), Oodnadatta Track, Mereenie Loop, Birdsville Track, Tanami Track, Gibb River Road, Kalumburu Road, Warburton Road, Strzelecki Track, Cape Leveque, Bungle Bungles, the Plenty Highway, Burke Development Road from Chillagoe to Normanton and Savannah Way from Normanton to Borroloola, Finke Road, Central Arnhem Road, Arnhem Land in general and any other remote area.
  • Vehicles are not permitted to travel on the Canning Stock Route, The Lost City in Litchfield Park, Old Gunbarrel Highway, the Old Telegraph Road section of the road to Cape York, Boggy Hole (Finke Gorge National Park), the Old South Road from Maryvale to Finkea and the last 2 kilometres of the Lennard River Gorge Road, at any time.
  • Vehicles are not permitted to travel to Cape York between the months of December to May. At all other times permission is required.
  • Apollo reserves the right at its sole discretion to restrict vehicle movements in certain areas due to adverse road or weather conditions, and the distance to nominated Destinations in relation to the length of the rental period.
  • Travelling on Ferries: Permitted. Apollo recommends that a booking is made for a 7.3m vehicle on the ferry, irrespective as to the size of the motorhome reserved, to avoid complications due to possible upgrades.
