Travelling in Italy with a Motorhome

It’s no surprise that Rome is one of the most popular cities in Europe filled with great architecture, cuisine and an overpowering ancient history. There is so much to see and do that its almost impossible to jam-pack it into the one holiday. Lavished with architectural gems from the early-Christian to medieval renaissance, your experience in Rome will surely be unique. Rome city is best travelled by train, as you step out of the station you will see the astonishing Colosseum stand proudly in front of you. The other major attractions in Rome are the Vatican City, St Peter's Cathedral, the Trevi Fountain and the countless museums and Gelatarias.

Travel in your motorhome to Naples, just 2.5 hours drive from Rome. Naples is an amazing city located in south-central Italy along the coast. Naples sets the scene of a dramatic landscape with friendly locals and charming villages close by. With a wealth of sightseeing attractions you will need to plan ahead to make sure you have enough time planned for your self drive holiday. Check out the famous Mount Vesuvius, the Castel dell’Ovo which is an enchanting castle overlooking the Gulf of Mexico with over a 2,000 year old story. Take a drive in your campervan to Pompeii, about an hours drive. Pompeii was completely destroyed and buried by the eruption of Volcano Mount Vesuvius and lost for almost 1,700 years.

Florence is located north of Naples and is another major city of Italy. Tourists flock to Florence for its famous art museums, architectural buildings and churches, and of course its known for its fashion. Drive your motorhome to the Piazzale Michelangelo located on the south side of town for great parking. Florence is best discovered on foot. Florence is surrounded by the heavenly Tuscany, and Tuscany is best travelled with freedom on the road to check out waves of sunflowers and the small villages and towns along the way.

If it’s time for great shopping then Milan is the place for you, the fashion capital is just 3.5 hours north of Florence. Other than the designer clothing Milan is jam-packed with significant monuments, museums, galleries and historical buildings. One of the most popular attractions is the Duomo located in the middle of the city. From Milan you can drive your motorhome 3 hours east to arrive to the romantic city on water, Venice. Cross the many canals when walking through the city and check out the Piazza San Marco square which is framed by the Basilica and the Nuove. The Icon of Venice is the Rialto Bridge which is 7.5 meter stone arch, great place to check out the mirrored city in the glistening water. Great Kodak moment!
