Q. Can I travel on a European passport?
A. Yes you can. When completing the contracts you must supply DriveAway Holidays with a letter outlining your intentions to travel, dates of return and a copy of your Australian residency visa from your EU passport. You must not reside in the EU (European Union) and you must have been in Australia for more then 6 months. Detailed information on this will be sent with your Peugeot Lease Forms when your booking has been confirmed.
Q. Why do I have to give my credit card details on the contract?
A. This is for Peugeot's use only, in cases of any traffic infringements or items not returned with the vehicle, for example keys, registration papers etc.
Q. What if I dont pay my booking by the due date?
A. Your reservation will be cancelled by DriveAway Holidays.
Q. How far in advance can I make amendments to my Peugeot booking?
A. All amendments must be made outside of 17 days from collection.
Q. Is there a cancellation policy with Peugeot Sodexa?
A. Yes, if the booking is cancelled within 35 days of the collection date, a large cancellation fee will apply.
Q. Do I need an International Driving Permit (IDP) when leasing a Peugeot?
A. An IDP is proof that you hold a valid driver licence in your home country at the date of issue of the IDP and should be carried with your domestic driver licence. It is a very useful travel document and is required or recommended for many countries when hiring and/or leasing a motor vehicle. Click here for more details.
Q. Can I order a specific colour for my Peugeot vehicle?
A. No. Preference of colour can be written on the leasing contract, under the 'Observation' section, however it cannot be guaranteed.
Q. What do I need to collect my vehicle?
A. Upon pick up you will need to provide the prepaid voucher from DriveAway Holidays and your passport.
Q. Do I need to leave a deposit when I arrive or pay for any extras?
A. No. Once you have paid DriveAway Holidays you will be given a prepaid voucher, this will cover you for your lease and there are no extras to pay other than tolls, highway charges or fuel. There is no deposit required or credit card imprints taken at time of collection.
Q. How much fuel is provided and do I need to return the vehicle full?
A. The vehicle will be delivered with between 10-15 litres of fuel, which in most cases is enough to get out of the city or on your way. You are not required to return the vehicle full and there are no charges in doing this.
Q. Will I receive a right hand drive vehicle if I collect in the UK?
A. No, all Peugeot models are left hand drive vehicles.
Q. Can my friend or relative collect the vehicle for me?
A. No. The registered driver (the client that completed the forms), must collect and return the vehicle as there are forms to be completed.
Q. Can I have additional drivers and is there a fee?
A. Yes you are able to have additional drivers and there is no additional fee, however there are very strict restrictions as follows. Immediate family members may only drive locally without the registered driver in the vehicle. Under no circumstance can the family member take the vehicle across any borders without the registered driver being in the vehicle. Immediate family members are spouse, son or daughter of the registered driver travelling under the same surname and residential address as the registered driver. All additional drivers must comply with all requirements of the lease.
Q. If I take my vehicle on a ferry will I be covered by insurance?
A. Yes. You are covered by full comprehensive insurance` and are covered in both the UK and Ireland. Ferry crossing fees are not included in the costs; these will need to be prepaid. Let us know if you are interested in this as we can help.
Q. Is a diesel model better to have then a petrol model?
A. The price for diesel is generally cheaper than petrol in most European countries. Therefore we recommend if you plan on doing a reasonable amount of driving it may be more economical to pay the extra and take a diesel model.
Q. Can I upgrade my car on arrival or request accessories?
A. No. Therefore it is vital you choose the correct vehicle and accessories prior.
Q. Do Peugeot Sodexa offer Tow Bars as an accessory or allow them to be fitted?
A. No. Peugeot do not offer these or allow them to be fitted on the vehicle by the client.
Q. Do Peugeot provide safety equipment required by individual countries?
A. No. It is the responsibility of the client to ensure they have the adequate and necessary items required. The laws and requirements vary between countries. Peugeot cannot predict where each client will travel and therefore leave it to the client to investigate and purchase.
Q. Will a reflective jacket and breakdown triangle be provided in the Peugeot vehicle?
A. All Peugeot deliveries in France from the 1st of July 2008 will be provided with a security kit which includes a reflective jacket and triangle. Peugeot Sodexa will charge the client's credit card EUR25 should the items not be returned with the vehicle.
Q. What tyres do Peugeot vehicles come with?
A. All vehicles are fitted with standard tyres prior to leaving the Peugeot Sodexa factory. Standard tyres are not suitable for all winter conditions and during certain periods of the year. In some countries it is a requirement by law that all vehicles are equipped with winter tyres between November and March. Peugeot Open Europe does not lease or sell snow ‘winter’ tyres. It is the client’s responsibility to purchase the appropriate ‘winter tyres’ whilst overseas and have them fitted and removed at an authorised Peugeot dealer. Snow chains can be prepaid with Driveaway Holidays prior to departure and supplied by Peugeot Sodexa at time of collection, however they are not suitable for highway driving.
Q. Does the Peugeot vehicle come with a spare tyre?
A. Only certain vehicles come with a spare tyre most vehicles come with a repair kit only.
Q. If I want to extend or change the details of my lease whilst I’m overseas, can I do this through my Australian Travel Agent?
A. No. Extensions or changes are possible however you will need to contact Peugeot Sodexa direct and arrange this with them. All costs will be in Euro and current taxes applied.
Q. What happens if my vehicle is stolen or I have an accident?
A. Detailed information is available in the Peugeot Practical Guide which is supplied in your vehicle as well as listed on www.driveaway.com.au/peugeot/insurance, however it is relatively simple. You need to follow the same procedure as you would at home. Contact the police, fill out an accident report form. You must contact the Peugeot Customer Assistance team as soon as possible and follow their instructions. Keep any documents relating to the accident and fax the document to Peugeot Assistance. In the event of your vehicle being stolen once you have notified Peugeot, the promissory note amount will not be invoked.
Q. If I have to return earlier for any reason can I do this, and am I entitled for a refund?
A. Yes, please make sure you contact the representative prior to organise the return. Partial refunds will only be considered for unused days of 7 days or more for contracts of 30 days or more. For further information, refer to the Peugeot Terms & Conditions.
Q. How do I purchase the emission sticker that is required in certain parts of Germany?
A. These can only be purchased at the Peugeot dealerships in Germany. Simply show the registration papers that you are given at the start of the lease and the dealer will provide you with the emission sticker. The cost is approximately EUR8.
Q. Can I purchase the Peugeot car after my lease has finished?
A. Yes, you have the option of buying the TT vehicle for yourself or a family member subject to advantageous conditions given the duration of use under the Temporary Transit formula. Peugeot Open Europe will take care of customs clearance for re-registration in mainland France only.
