Rising Dollar Driving Aussies Overseas
The rise of the Aussie dollar is driving Australians overseas, according to DriveAway Holidays.
The car rental wholesaler has reported a surge in UK bookings in the past 3 months due to record highs of the dollar against the pound.
A strong dollar, combined with cheap airfares, has also lead to the best year for the USA for some time. With talk of the dollar hitting 90 US cents again, there are huge savings for travelers going to the States.
One week’s rental of an economy car in the USA would have cost $370 in March. Today it is $315 and includes a free tank of fuel and 3 additional drivers, saving a total of over $300.
Michael Hay, Chief Executive Officer from DriveAway Holidays says, “We’ve had a great year for the UK and USA. But the increased demand, as well as reduced fleet numbers globally means that availability will be very tight over the Christmas period so book early and take advantage of the great deals in the market.”
The bonus inclusions of a free tank of fuel and additional drivers in the USA are available for bookings made and paid by Friday 9 October 09 only. Click here for full details.
