Day 1: Brisbane to Toowoomba

Duration: 156 kms - 1.75 hrs

Fly into Brisbane Airport and follow the Warrego Highway to Toowoomba or fly directly into Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport, Toowoomba. Make your first stop the popular Picnic Point Lookout and take in panoramic views of Main Range and Lockyer Valley. Wander the immaculately tendered floral gardens of Queens Park and see Australia’s finest horse-drawn carriages at the nearby Cobb + Co Museum. Explore Ju Raku En, Australia’s largest Japanese stroll garden and discover Toowoomba’s thriving café culture and foodie scene.

Day 2: Toowoomba to Carnarvon Gorge

Duration: 587 kms - 7.5 hrs

Drive west via Chinchilla and Roma to Carnarvon Gorge National Park, an oasis in the semi-arid heart of Central Queensland. See spectacular sandstone gorge vistas, ancient rainforests and well-preserved Aboriginal rock art on tracks, classified to match bushwalking experience and fitness. Explore the beautiful Moss Garden walk with its splendid waterfall backdrop, ferns and mosses. By day, see kangaroos and wallabies around the picnic area and at nightspot night echidnas and listen to the call of yellow-bellied gliders, owls and the bush stone-curlew.

Day 3: Carnarvon Gorge to Brisbane

Duration: 739 kms - 13 hrs

Begin with an early departure from Carnarvon Gorge for a big day of travel to Brisbane. Stretch your legs in Roma with a short stroll along the Adungadoo Trail then have a picnic lunch at Dalby's Thomas Jack Park. Arrive in Toowoomba mid-afternoon to conclude your drive or continue on to Brisbane.
