Las Vegas to Reno

Day 1

Arrive at Las Vegas airport and transfer to your hotel. Perhaps enjoy a show in one of the most exciting cities on Earth. Overnight Las Vegas.

Day 2

Depart Las Vegas and take State Route 160 Blue Diamond Road West toward Pahrump. After Pahrump, take State Route 190 toward Death Valley Junction, and into Death Valley National Park. Stop at Zabriskie Point for a very scenic view. Continue to Furnace Creek to explore the Visitors Center and have some lunch. Drive South to visit Badwater, the lowest point in the Western Hemisphere at 282 below sea level. Stop at Devil’s Golf Course, which is not a golf course, but a valley of strange salt formations. Drive through Artists Palette (no large vehicles) for a multi-colored scenic drive. Depart Death Valley National Park on State Route 374, and stop at Rhyolite Ghost Town and Goldwell Open Air Museum to enjoy some ghostly sculptures, unique outdoor art and historic buildings. Continue on to Beatty and stop at Death Valley Nut and Candy Company for a rest and a snack. Depart for Tonopah, for dinner at overnight. You might choose to stay at the historic, and recently re-opened Mizpah Hotel, filled with character, stories and perhaps a few ghosts. Overnight in Tonopah.

Day 3

Depart Tonopah travelling North on Hwy 95 to Hawthorne, America’s most patriotic town, and home to the Army Ammunition Depot. While in town, visit the Hawthorne Ordinance Museum and discover the military history of the area. Drive north, along the shores of Walker Lake and onto Fallon, “The Oasis of Nevada.” Visit the Oats Park Art Center, a beautifully restored school building which is now an arts venue in that host's exhibitions by regional artists. Continue to Reno to enjoy the many sites and attractions of “The Biggest Little City in the World,” and the many other surrounding destinations such as Lake Tahoe, Virginia City, Pyramid Lake, and Nevada’s Capital Carson City.
