Depart Las Vegas on I-15 North to Hwy 93 North. Stop at the beautiful Pahranagat National Wildlife Refuge and enjoy the lakeside picnic tables, and the many species of birds and other wildlife. Continue north for a few more minutes toward Alamo and stop at Windmill Ridge to enjoy lunch and their scrumptious bakery selections, or pick up lunch to go and enjoy at your stop in Kershaw-Ryan State Park, where you can hike, play volleyball, or just relax on the cool grass. Next stop is the spectacular Cathedral Gorge State Park, where you can walk through the dramatic sandstone formations such as the Moon Caves, and enjoy the scenic overlook. Drive onto Pioche, the historic mining town and visit the Million Dollar Courthouse and Boot Hill. Continue on the Great Basin Highway to Ely. Overnight in Ely.

Travel Highway 50 East to Great Basin National Park. Hike up to the Bristlecone Pines, the oldest living organism on earth. Enjoy a trip to the Lehman Caves, with incredible stalactite and stalagmite formations. Travel from Great Basin National Park to McGill and visit the historic drug store that is frozen in time, with many decades of memories and history to enjoy. Return to Ely and drive around town to view the many murals painted to depict its history and visit the White Pine County Museum. Take a ride on the historic Ghost Train of the Nevada Northern Railway. You may choose to stay at the historic Hotel Nevada, once the tallest building in the state. Depart Ely, heading West on Highway 50, nicknamed The Loneliest Road in America, toward Eureka. Walk the Eureka Self-guiding Tour and visit the Eureka Opera House, the Sentinel Museum, and go upstairs in the Eureka County Courthouse. Continue on Highway 50 to State Route 376 to Tonopah. Visit the Tonopah Historic Mining Park to capture the real history of the mining boom. You may choose to stay overnight or have dinner at the over 100-year old and recently re-opened Mizpah Hotel. Overnight in Tonopah.

Head south on Highway 95 to Goldfield and travel through this historic mining community which was once one of the largest cities in Nevada. Continue South to Beatty for a stop at the Death Valley Nut and Candy Company and visit to the Beatty Museum. Take State Route 374 toward Death Valley about 6 miles to turn right toward Rhyolite Ghost Town for an amazing experience of historic buildings and life-sized ghost sculptures at the Goldwell Open Air Museum. Continue on to Death Valley National Park to explore Bad Water Basin, Devil’s Golf Course and Artist’s Pallet. Stop at Zabriskie Point for a final park view before heading through Pahrump and on to Las Vegas.
