Welcome to North Lake Tahoe. Home to the most concentrated region of Ski Resorts in North America.
Start your day by skiing and/or snowboarding at Northstar California Ski Resort. You don’t want to ski, no problem, you can ice skate on the 9,000ft ice skating rink before meeting your on-hill friends at the Zephyr Lodge for a lunch at the top of the mountain. For those skiing, they can ski directly up to the Zephyr Lodge and for those not skiing, you can take a gondola ride up the mountain to meet your friends.
At 2pm, make sure you visit Tost, Northstar’s on-mountain champagne experience. From there make sure you ski over to the Ritz-Carlton, located mid-mountain, where you can enjoy their afternoon Marshmology. With homemade marshmallows created in house, this is sure to be a special treat.
All done on the mountain! Head to the fire pits around the ice skating rink to grab a warm beverage and listen to live music. Enjoying our après scene is part of the journey here in North Lake Tahoe.
Hungry, visit Lana’s for some hearty, family-style Italian in Kings Beach – you’ve earned it skiing hard all day!
After a big day of skiing and another day ahead, choose from a wealth of egg benedict combinations at the Log Cabin Café in Kings Beach before making your way to Squaw Valley | Alpine Meadows Resort. Squaw Valley Resort was recently ranked Number 1 Ski Resort by USA Today Readers.
For those interested in skiing, you can ski both resorts in the same day and don’t worry there is a free bus between the two. Keep an eye out, soon a base to base gondola will connect both mountains. You will surely be impressed by the vastness of the mountain. Don’t be afraid to ski over to High Camp and meet your friends for a mountain top cocktail and hot tub!
Squaw Valley in Alpine Meadows is home to the 1960 Winter Olympics. For those not skiing, make your way to the Aerial Tram and visit the Olympic Museum at the top of the mountain. Not into museums, no problem, there is an ice skating rink, pool, hot tubs and bar/restaurant all for your enjoyment at the top of the mountain.
At the end of the day, you can all meet up at the Chamonix Bar, recently ranked Number 1 Après spot by USA Today. When you are done enjoying a cold (or warm) beverage, make your way Plumpjack’s Bar/Restaurant for a casual, but elegant dinner. Not interested in elegant, no worries, there are many other restaurants to choose from in the Village at Squaw Valley.

Experience all the fun activities North Lake Tahoe has to offer outside of skiing! Start your day with a delicious pastry at Tahoe House and then make your way to the Emerald Bay. This look out point will surely take your breath away.
When you depart Emerald Bay, pick an activity of your choosing. Whether it be snow mobiling, snow tubing, sledding, cross country skiing, or the spa, you will have a wonderful time experiencing something new.
End your day with dinner on Lake Tahoe West Shore Café. All offer a view you can’t go without seeing. Don’t forget to order s’mores for dessert. Most North Lake Tahoe Restaurants offer fire pits for your to roast marshmallows on.
Don’t be sad it is your last day here, you can always come back!
Not sick of skiing – hit up one of the other 10 resorts you haven’t skied yet. Homewood has some of the best Lake Views in all of North Lake Tahoe. Alpine Meadows is a local’s favorite! Departing through Reno, I would suggest Mount Rose since it is the closest resort to the Reno Tahoe International Airport. Heading out through Sacramento or San Francisco, no problem, hit Sugarbowl on the Donner Lake Summit for some of the best snow in Lake Tahoe.
Not interested in skiing, no problem, start your day off with some yoga at any of our 10+ yoga studios. Once you are done doing that, I suggest taking yourself to shop in downtown Tahoe City. Once you are done treating yourself, head to Uncorked Wine Bar for happy hour. Make sure to ask for a California flight of wines, you are visiting us after all! From there head to Jake’s on the Lake for a beautiful dinner on the marina in North Lake Tahoe.
