Day 1: Johannesburg to Kruger National Park

Distance: 406km

Time: 4hrs 44 minutes

Start your trip off in the beautiful city of Johannesburg. Make sure to check out the city center of Johannesburg before leave, Johannesburg city has a great range of history and culture to experience depending which takes your fancy. Some of the top attraction you can see in Johannesburg are the Botanical Gardens, Soweto Brewing Company, South Africa National Museum of Military History and many more.

Once you hit the road to start your sightseeing drive to Kruger National Park make sure to check out some of the top spots on the way, such as Mpumalange, Long Tom Pass, Garskop Gorge, Pilgrim’s Rest and Three Rondavels.

Once arriving at Kruger National Park make sure to go on one of the many Safaris through the game reserve, there is nothing more amazing than seeing animals in their wild habit. Kruger National Park is one of the largest game reserves so with some luck you might even get to see the big five in one day.

Day 2: Kruger National Park to Eswatini (Swaziland)

After exploring the amazing Kruger National Park next stop is Eswatini Swaziland another beautiful national park Hlane Royal National Park. Hland Royal National Park is a great way to connect with nature, stay in one of their camp grounds with wildlife on every corner.

One of the top activities to do while you stay is the horse riding, get up close and personal with wildlife in a never before experience, or you can grab a bike and do a nice ride around the park.

Day 3: Eswatini (Swaziland) to Mozambique Beach

Distance: 186km

Time: 3hrs 22 minutes

Once you have finished exploring the lovely wilderness and national parks, it's the perfect time to see the other side of South Africa and its beautiful beaches and marine animals. Enjoy the drive through the frost environment to the wetland beach environment in just a few hours.

Once arriving to Mozambique beach some of the top attraction to see and do are the Marine Megafauna Foundation, Inhaca Island, Casa De Ferro (The Iron House), or you can even do another game reserve.

Did you know the coastal waters of Mozamibque has over 1,200 species of fish? Mozambique is also known for being the largest marine reserve in Africa.

Day 4: Mozambique Beach to St Lucia Estuary

Distance: 136km

Time: 3hrs 1 minute

Enjoy the coastal drive down to St Lucia Estuary, check out all the look out and stop on the way or even stop into a little town to experience to culture.

St Lucia Estuary has some of the biggest water base mammals such as hippos and crocodiles. You can experience seeing these animals by booking a Hippo and Croc Bat Tour.

There are multiple hikes and beaches in St Lucia Estuary, take an afternoon drive and explore the hikes and beaches along the way. Of course there is always game reserves in St Lucia Estuary if you still haven’t been lucky enjoy to spot those big five.

Day 5: St Lucia Estuary to Zululand

Distance: 165km

Time: 2hrs 59 Minutes

St Lucia Wetlands Park is a wildlife reserve with a tidal twist, you can have a chance to see turtles’ nest on the beaches and dolphins playing in the surf and mantas glide through the waters.

Take a short drive to Zululand to experience a cultural stay, stay in the Ithala Game Reserve or if you want to stay in style how about try some of the beautiful five-star lodges.

Explore the popular city location in Zululand such as Hluhluwe, Mtunzini, Eshowew, Vryheid.

Fun Fact The Zulu people are the largest ethnic group in South Africa. The Zulu Language is the IsiZulu, this is one of the official languages of South Africa.

Day 6: Zululand to Durban

Distance: 302km

Time: 4hrs and 9 Minutes

Along your drive between Zululand to Durban, there is a game reserve called KwaZulu-Natal while it may have a low number of international visitors this is extremely high on hidden gems. In the national park there are plenty of Hikes with panoramic views.

When you arrive in Durban there is a different scenic route you can do by a city tour or the Sani Pass Lesotho. If you rather there is always a walking tour or go see the Botanic Gardens if you want a break from driving.

Fun Fact Durban city has the busiest container port in Africa and one of the busiest in the Southern Hemisphere.
