The Great Ocean Road, Australia

The Great Ocean Road is one of the world’s most scenic coastal drives in the world which stretches 95 kilometres west from Melbourne. Spend a few days exploring this rugged route where each bend promises a better view! The drive commences at the surfing town of Torquay, home to the famous Bells Beach where Point Break was filmed. Birth place of iconic surf brands, board shorts aren’t just the fashion here, they are the official dress code!

Melbourne - Torquay

Melbourne is a city filled with eclectic gems, international food and a bustling nightlife. From here, it is only about an hour and a half drive to Torquay which is the starting point of The Great Ocean Road. Torquay is home to prestigious surfing competitions like the Rip Curl Pro and a number of surf warehouse shops where you can grab a great bargain. No trip to a coastal town would be complete without some fresh seafood so be sure to head to Fisho's Torquay for lunch or dinner.

Apollo Bay - The Otways

Drive along the Surf Coast to Apollo Bay, heading inland at the Otway Forests to spot koalas between May - October. Stop off a Maits Rest and explore the board walk through the 300 year old Myrtle Beach Tree Forest. If you are feeling adventurous then hit up Otway Fly Treetop Adventures to experience a zipline through the Otways or an elevated treetop adventure. Get strapped into your harness and prepare for an experience you won't forget!

Shipwreck Coast - More of The Great Ocean Road

Head back along the Shipwreck Coast where the road hugs the coast for the entire length of the Port Campbell National Park. Here, explore the amazing lime stone rock formations famously known as the Twelve Apostles, carved out of the headland by the Southern Ocean 20 million years ago. The originally carved caves over time became arches and later eroded into stacks up to 45 metres high. At sunset and sunrise, these stacks change colour as the sunlight changes. There are many attractions to explore in the area such as the 86 Gibson Steps, the Arch rock formation and the stacks of the London Bridge - which collapsed in 1990. Discover the Lock Ard Gorge, Bay of Martyrs, Bay of Islands and experience the regions fine wines and dining - almost guaranteed to be served with an ocean view!
