Auckland - The Coromandel Peninsula

The Coromandel, the Bay of Plenty, Eastland and Hawkes Bay make up this touring route known as the Pacific Coast Highway. Well signposted, this driving route is easy way to navigate and will take you through some of the most spectacular coastal scenery New Zealand has to offer. Head southeast from Auckland to The Coromandel Peninsula where you will find pristine beaches, hidden coves and luscious rainforests. Discover Cathedral Cove and dig your own geothermally heated pool at Hot Water Beach. If you're looking for an activity for the whole family to enjoy, venture out to the Driving Creek Railway which tours through the scenic forest in the Coromandel.

The Bay of Plenty - Tauranga - Mount Maunganui

Renowned for its gentle climate, head onto the Bay of Plenty, making it a relaxing destination. Tauranga is the Bay’s biggest town where you can enjoy waterfront dining, live music on The Strand and explore the nearby resort of Mount Maunganui. If you're a lover of water activities then we suggest visiting the Waimarino Adventure Park which is a water and adventure park focused around kayaking! After you've enjoyed your day, dry off and visit a local beach like Pilot Bay Beach to enjoy some of the local fresh food.

Eastland - Gisborne

Heading onto Eastland, this remote and rugged landscape offers uncrowded beaches and chardonnay vineyards where you can also discover the region’s Maori history. Once you're done there, surf until your hearts content at Gisborne, the first city in the world to see the sun each day. Here you can visit the sacred Mount Hikurangi and learn about the Maori fishing legend. You will not be dissapointed with the beautiful lush scenery New Zealand is famous for in the Eastwoodhill Arboretum which takes you through more than 131 hectares of exotic flora and fauna.

Hawkes Bay

The final destination on the Pacific Coast Highway is Hawkes Bay which illustrates some of the world’s best Art Deco architecture. Meander through the many wineries sampling some sauvignon blanc, merlot and cabernet sauvignon along with first class cuisine. Before concluding, take a trip to Cape Kidnappers, home to the largest gannet colony which can be reached by foot, kayak or tractor where you can also play a round of golf. In Napier you'll find The National Aquarium of New Zealand which is always fun for the family and Splash Planet in Napier which will make any adult feel like a kid again!
